In my mind I stayed in the beautiful snow landscape of winter and let my imagination run free. A few birch trees on the edge of the shore rise majestically out of the untouched snowdrifts, whose dark shadows are visible in the snow. The hoarfrost edges the branches like a white garnish. The footpath has almost disappeared in the fallen snow, which lies like a beautiful blanket over the ground. A sun looms on the horizon, which soon disappears and extinguishes the light over the landscape, but the colourful sky is still reflected in the snow. The ice on the lake is frozen since months ago and the surface spreads out like a huge hall floor. A couple of fir trees with snow-laden branches grow beside the path.
A small painting.
This winter painting is painted on a small canvas and maybe I will continue to paint the other three seasons. We will see if that happens, it all depends on which ideas pop into my head and if the inspiration appears. In any case, I hope you like my interpretation of the special light that can be experienced in winter up north and that I have managed to capture a bit of the mystery in the desolate landscape. The painting is saved on my website’s gallery under Lapland winter.
