BLOOM IN JUNE

Bloom in June.

In this painting I take you back to June last year when I spent a week in my hometown. It had been a long time since I had been home at the beginning of the summer. During my week off I had time to have a class reunion with a bunch of classmates from high school and meet friends and family. Back to the painting, the idea for this one was born in my brother-in-law’s garden. Next to his house shone a sea of yellow” suns”, lots of (Trollius europaeus), or “ploppän” as we say up north. It was a stunning view and a long time since I had seen them in bloom. A perfect sign that summer is on its way in Lapland.

June – bright nights.

Another thing that struck me was the light. I had forgotten how bright the light is and how fascinating it is with bright summer nights when no darkness enters. Maybe that’s why I find the colours so strong and clear. After the long dark winter, you need to be filled with light and energy. My batteries were recharged in no time during these days. I let the wall of his house become a red background behind the bright yellow flowers, the green grass with its sharp new greenery. A colourful painting that makes you happy, I think. What´s your opinion? The painting has been saved in the gallery under Lapland – summer. As usual, I invite you to drop a comment if you feel like it.
