MOUNTAIN ROAD

Mountain road.

The last winter painting for 2024 turned out to be a winter road in the mountains. The landscape is covered in a thick blanket of snow and the cars which have passed by have left icy tracks on road. The roadside is lined with fluffy white snow. A few sticks along the road that mark the edges in heavy snowfall and poor visibility have been grazed by the snowplough. The trees rise proudly against the winter sky. The ice lies as thick as a hall floor over the lake. In the background are some majestic mountain peaks, high, beautiful and lots of surfaces of untouched snow. Perhaps that is what fascinates me the most. These endless surfaces that are completely without a trace of man are what make the landscape of Lapland’s mountains so great and magnificent.

Blue – a favourite color.

The artwork is characterized by blue tones in many different shades, mixed with grey, with white. I like the color blue and experimenting with different colours for the sky, snow and shadows. These are completely different shades of blue than the blue I find around the Mediterranean. It’s hard to explain, but for me, the winter landscape in the north has a colder blue tone than the blue you see in southern Europe, for example the blue of the sea which tends more towards turquoise and green. What is your favorite colour? It would be interesting to hear what you think of my interpretation of a mountain road. You can comment here on the website or email me. I have saved the painting in the gallery under Lapland winter.
