Started the year with a drought of ideas. Creative people will probably understand what I mean. You have a great desire to create an atwork but the right inspiration doesn’t want to appear. Normally I tend to have my head filled with ideas for upcoming projects, before one is finished my brain has started preparing for the next. That wasn’t the case in January, my head felt empty and I felt a little frustrated as I sat in my studio. After a cup of coffee and some pondering, I looked out from my tower and it hit me that the motif was out there. The sky was incredibly beautiful that afternoon and the light had a pinkish shimmer. I got started and begun to paint with my view from the tower. Sometimes you realize that what you are looking for is just within reach.

In the background you can see some neighboring houses on the other side of the street. That side of the sidewalk is lined with some orange trees where the fruits shine like orange dots from distance. They are easily obscured by some high palm trees. The hedges facing the street have a intense green colour. In the foreground you can see a piece of the roof below, the single-pitched roof tiles with their beautiful terracotta color. The painting has many strong colours, since the seasons here aren´t as defined as in Sweden, we can enjoy greenery all year round. Something you quickly become quite spoiled with. Quite crazy that it took me such time to notice and appreciate the view outside. It is easy to miss the beauty we have within reach. We should probably stop more often and actually observe our surroundings around us. I have saved the artwork under the category “Mediterranean landscape”.
