The Northern landscape has a special place in my heart.

Red Hibiscus.

This time I chose a motif from our garden, a hibiscus planted in a terracotta pot next to the steps. The red flowers light up beautifully against the lush greenery and it blooms frequently. The flowers only last one day, but maybe that makes you take an extra look at them and appreciate them even more. It gives us a reminder to enjoy what is around us here and now. Nobody knows anything about tomorrow. I remember when I had just moved to Spain, I was very surprised when I realized that many plants that I had only seen as small potted plants at home in Sweden, in Valencia were the size of trees and tall hedges. Another plus is that here there is something in bloom all year round, while in Lapland I got to enjoy ice roses a few months of the year, which is also beautiful in its own way.

From my garden and out into the wide world.

I used quite sharp colours this time. It felt necessary to do so to give justice to the beautiful plant. The terracotta colour of the pot blends well with the greenery. For this painting, I chose a wood-coloured so-called floating frame, a frame that gives a little space between the canvas and the frame. I like these types of frames; they elevate the artwork without taking over the motif. This painting I decided to donate as a prize in our lottery that we have in connection with our company golf tournament, JBP Open 2023. It felt exciting to paint it and not knowing where in the world it would end up. On October the 6th we announced the winner, and the painting is leaving for Spain/Qatar. The painting has been saved in the gallery under Flowers on my website. If you would like to give me feedback on this one or my artwork in general, you are more than welcome to do so here or via email
