I managed to finish a small painting before the holidays, but then I haven’t prioritized time to update my website until now. I found a theme suitable for the season, cloudberries. These sweet, delicious berries can be enjoyed as a dessert or jam, but the best thing is of course to taste a sun-warmed berry straight from ground where they grow. With their bright yellow-orange colour, the berries light up the tufts of the bog at the end of July/beginning of August. However, there are no berries that are picked without effort, the swampy ground is quite difficult to walk on and well equipped with mosquito repellent is a must. A well prepared back pack with coffee and a sandwich not to be forgotten. It never tastes as good as out in the fresh air.
From Lapland to London.
The painting was painted for a dear friend from London who visited us last summer and who tried to pick cloudberries during her stay. We hope she will come again to experience more fantastic adventures in Lapland. We tend to forget that the little things which we are taking for granted can be an exotic experience for someone from abroad. Our wild beautiful vast nature that we have on our door step is something that very few on our earth are blessed. I hope someone got curious and would like to pay a visit to southern Lapland next summer. The painting has been saved in the gallery under Lapland Summer on my website.
