After painting autumn motifs, I decided to change the colors of my palette to dark blue tones and green sharp shades. I felt like trying to interpret the Northern Lights again, this magical celestial phenomenon that not everyone gets the chance to experience. If you are born in the northern parts of Scandinavia, it is very likely that you have seen it and may not attach much importance to it. I realize more and more that I´ve been fortunate seeing it many times, as several of my friends around the world have it on their “bucket list” and are dreaming of once getting the chance to see the northern lights in real life. Nowadays, many photos are published on social media with the Northern Lights, which I think has aroused interest in the celestial phenomenon among people all over the globe. In my painting, I let the green veils dance on the horizon to rise hovering over the sky where they finally are disappearing. The sky, this clear winter night is dark navy blue with shining stars. The northern lights illuminate the snow between the tall pines that stretch stately towards the sky. I hope I have managed to capture the magical feeling when you are in the middle of the pitch black night when the sky is lit up by the neon green veils and you just stand there and feel like a little dot in the universe.
