My first project after the summer holidays was called Autumn has returned. It is an autumn motif where I tried to get the melancholy feeling when the warm bright summer has said farewell and the fall is approaching. The scenery I chose was a gravel road in the inland within the county of Västerbotten. An autumn day when the weather is not the best and the sky is light grey, but the landscape is lit up by the colourful autumn leaves. The intense greenery of summer is now just a distant memory, and the ground has changed to yellow-brown tones. Beautiful, but also a certain sadness that the summer is over and that a long winter is just around the corner.
A narrow country road.
The gravel road winds through the landscape and disappears around the curve on the horizon. To create depth in my painting I chose this perspective. On the right-hand side, a stick is placed in the ground. They are set out along smaller roads during the autumn to prepare for the winter snow ploughing. They are a necessary to indicate where the roadside is, so that the road can be ploughed, even if the snow is deep. Some trees glow with yellow leaves between the tall pines. Some autumn leaves have fallen to the ground and formed a colourful blanket on the ground. If you have roots in northern part of Sweden, the landscape is certainly recognizable, it could be any road in the inland. It would be interesting to get your feedback on this work.
