This time I was inspired by a photo that appeared on social media. A winter picture from the muncipality in the interior of Västerbotten where I lived my first 39 years. A very familiar motif with the view when you stand at the top of Storgatan and look down. The colourful old church cottages are on your left and the street is icy and a lot of snow lies in piles along the sidewalks. It is December and Christmas decorations in the shape of stars adorn the lampposts. If you look really closely, you can see some people down on Storgatan in front of the magnificent Christmas tree that always spreads Christmas spirit to the locals during the dark Christmas month. If you raise your eyes a little, you can see the incredibly beautiful sky that is glowing this afternoon. Yellow tones in different shades that enhance the feeling that it is almost Christmas.
A painting with small details.
I had to buy new brushes to get the smallest details. The smallest one with just a few straws, a necessity to succeed in painting all the delicate details. It was fun to paint a motif that was so familiar to me. I could see myself walking along Storgatan and breathing in the atmosphere. At that time of year, the hours of daylight are severely limited, perhaps that is why the colours of the sky are even more intense.
