LAVENDER

Lavender.

I decided to paint a floral motif this time. In February, I often start longing for floral splendour. The garden in Spain looks dull at this time of the year and in Sweden it is buried under deep snow. In my daydreams, I landed in Provence, and beautiful lavender fields that can make anyone lose their breath the first time one sees these purple fields. During this pandemic, travel may be exchanged for dreams. Instead of depicting a field, I decided to paint a plant with lavender in a zinc bucket. The floor is tiles in a terracotta colour, a quite common of floors by the Mediterranean. The worn wooden doors in the background got a light blue tone. I wanted to create a harmonious balance between the background and the lavender plant and therefore chose these colours.

A small painting for a hall.

I think this painting could bring a colourful touch to a hall. The format is smaller than my paintings are normally. If the inspiration continues to flow, there might be more small flower paintings. It was good fun to paint this one. You can find the artwork under the category Flowers in the gallery.
