I chose to continue on the theme of flowers. Now the inspiration brought me to Sweden and to my parents’ garden. My mum Selma was looking after her flowers really well and one of her favourite flowers that always sprouted in her flower beds in summer was pansies. Flowers which are quite resistant and can grow in cold climate as well. At least as far as I remember the frost didn´t damage them even if there were a few cold nights below zero in the beginning of the summer. I liked these flowers a lot as a child and I still do. I think it was because the flower itself reminded me of a miniature face and they all looked different. Pansies are available in many colour tones, like -purple-blue, light –blue, yellow, orange, white, etc. For this painting, I chose to paint pansies in purple, white and light blue tones. It became a small bouquet in a transparent glass vase standing on a table with deep greenery in the background. Such a place where you would like to sit down on a hot summer day in the shade, enjoy a cup of coffee and admire all the small “flower faces”. I hope I have managed to recreate that feeling in you as well and made you dream away when looking at the painting.
Peace of mind.
For me, it was extra special to paint this artwork as it was one of my mother’s favourite flowers and I could almost feel her presence during the creation of the painting. A pleasant feeling of peace and quiet appeared, almost as if her creative soul helped me in the painting process. The artwork can be found in the gallery under the category flowers.
