ÅTER TILL MINA RÖTTER

Åter till mina rötter- Back to my roots.

This summer I let a dream that I have had for many years come true, to arrange an art exhibition in my parent´s home village, Granåsen, Dorotea in  south Lapland. It required months of planning but it was a fun job as the people from the village and others involved were so positive about my idea. The opening of the exhibition took place the  27th of July and we welcomed our visitors with coffee, cake and as well hot dogs for the hungry ones. Soon the old school, 90 years to be exact, was filled with visitors from nearby villages and others who had traveled far, relatives, friends, art lovers and tourists passing through, you name it. There were many interesting and joyful meetings and when the exhibition ended after nine days we could count that more than 200 people had visited the event. A remarkable number considering that there are currently only 7 residents in the village. The exhibition was named “Back to my roots, which was a suitable name as my ancestors descended from the village and it is where I have spent my childhood summers.

Paintings found new homes.

One third of the exhibited art work from Brittas Art found new homes during these days and several visitors took the opportunity to order calendars for 2020. Some new painting projects were also discussed which are expected to take shape in the coming months. It was exciting to get so much positive feedback that inspires me to paint more. Many thanks to all of you who paid me a visit at the exhibition and made it to an unforgivable memory.
