BEAUTIFUL LAKE VOLGSJÖN

Beautiful Lake Volgsjön.

This painting was created after a wonderful summer memory. Last year we travelled to Vilhelmina to spend the holidays there. It was unusually warm, and the first day of vacation turned out to be an incredibly sunny, warm and wonderful summer day. We went down to the marina, and we were astonished by how beautiful Lake Volgsjön was that morning. The water surface was mirror-like, not a ripple was visible, and the mountains reflected in the water gave a sharp clear reflection in the water. While I was painting, I could travel back to that day in my memory, feel the sun’s rays warming me, enjoy the beautiful view and nature around us. Then the wonderful feeling that it was day 1 of the vacation and the days that remained felt endless. I hope that some of the former residents of Vilhelmina will have a little “flashback” to the beautiful lake Volgsjön when they see this artwork.

Blue and green.

I used sharp blue tones to do justice to the beautiful summer sky, which was completely cloudless that day. The lake was also painted with an intense blue colour. I chose to only let a small fir tree adorn the foreground, with detailed branches where you can almost see the needles. Sometimes “less is more” to maintain the right composition and invites your glance to stay a bit longer on the painting. Please let me know what you think of the Beautiful Lake Volsjön that I have saved in the Lapland summer category in my art Gallery.
