WINTER SKY

Winter sky.

I decided to paint a winter motif this time, as it had been a while since I depicted winter in my artwork. I choose the scenery to be an evening when the sky bursts with colours before darkness takes over. On the horizon, yellow tones in the sky changes into orange which higher up in the sky turn into purple-blue tones. The ice on the lake is solid and on some parts there is still snow on the ice since the last snowfall. The birch trunks stretch towards the sky, and the bare branches spread out from the trunk. The snow has not yet reached its maximum snow depth for the winter, so some bushes and straw are still sticking out of the snow.

Cool air but harmonious atmosphere.

Anyone who knows a chilly climate probably understands what I’m referring to when mentioning a winter evening where the cold has kicked in and pinches your cheeks. It feels fresh and the calm landscape creates a harmonious atmosphere. The air feels so fresh and clean such an evening. I have used different kind of brushes to create the effects that I wanted to appear in the painting. So much more I do not say about this work of art. The best thing is to let it speak for itself and then you can tell me if you liked the motif and if you felt the cold against your cheek. Feel free to write a comment if you like. You can find the painting in the gallery Lapland- Winter.
