The favourite beach.
I have to admit that for me there are few things that can beat a hot sunny summer day in Sweden. There is something special about waking up and watching the sun shine from a clear blue sky and a warm summer breeze caress one’s cheek while grabbing a cup of coffee at the summer house. Next step is the first swim of the day at the favourite beach. The swim is cool, refreshing and a good start of the day. A new day is like an unwritten paper ready to be filled with wonderful opportunities. Just that feeling I hope I have been able to express in this painting. I look out over the lake and the water approaches the beach in weak ripples. The shadows from the trees are reflected on the sand. On the other side of the lake, I can see a green gleam once inhabited by my ancestors, my grandmother’s mother. At such moments, one’s roots feel closer and more important than ever.
You need to know where you come from to know where you are going.
Although this is my favourite place, I hope I succeeded in eliciting the feeling that will make you dream of your very special precious place. I think it is nice to have a place you can daydream about, a place where you feel peace and quiet. I have chosen quite bright colours to recreate the light on a sunny day. The birch tree trunk has been given clear details to make its fists as credible as possible. You will find the painting in the gallery, under the category Lapland summer.
