As you have probably seen, my inspiration swings between Sweden and Spain, for me the best of both worlds. This time the motif was from Alcublas, which is located in the interior of the Comunidad Valenciana. In February we went on an excursion with some close friends to enjoy the time of year when the almond blossom fields are at their most beautiful. The almond trees bloom on bare branches, before the new green leaves have budded. The white-pink flowers decorate the gnarled branches that almost disappear under the abundant flowering. The day we visited Alcublas was an overcast day and if you looked at the sky it looked like the rain could come at any time but fortunately it held off during our excursion. An almond field that I chose to later make my interpretation of I noticed when we were on our way down from the mountain where we had looked at the restored windmills.

When I started the painting, I discovered that I liked the tones that the gray-clouded sky gave to the rest of the landscape. The beige-colored, lean earth and a few bushes with dark green leaves in the foreground. One with yellow flowers. The almond trees are planted in straight rows. In the background, some forested mountains can be seen. The tones became a little more gloomy than a sunny day, but a sunny day is not always the most beautiful.
