I have not yet found my continuous rhythm with my painting that I have had in previous years. I hope that during the autumn I will be able to sit down at the easel more often than I´ve done in the last six months. Enough of this, at least little has been produced in my painting studio anyway. In today’s blog I will show samples of two oval paintings that I have painted. I like the oval shape and think it makes a beautiful detail on a wall.
Gray stone walls, cerise-red flower.
This time I was inspired by a series of photos my daughter took during a trip to Italy. She walked along a cobbled street, with old stone houses along the way. The old facades with their uneven surface gave a picturesque impression. As a sharp contrast to the grey-beige house walls, there was a cerise, red cyclamen attached to the wall next to a door. A cyclamen is easily recognized by the bright highlights on the leaves and the flower is, of course, planted in a traditional terracotta pot .I chose to make two paintings, one where you see the flower in close-up and the other from more distance where you can see parts of the facade and a bit of the cobbled street. I painted the stone walls with a sponge so that the structure of the wall would be as realistic as possible. I imagine that these two paintings together could become a decorative detail in, for example, a staircase or in a hall. What do you feel when they look at them?
