When I started this art project, I decided to use yellow, a colour tone that I normally do not use so often. The scenery I chose was where the natural light shines from behind because here I could easily include the yellow colour. Usually I sketch on the canvas with a pencil before I start to paint but this time I started painting with my brush directly without having any lines to follow. Sometimes it helps, not think too much about what you are going to paint, just go ahead with it and see where it takes you. I started with the sky in different yellow tones, from tones of lemon to dark ochre.
The magic of nature.
Next step was the pine trees, the trunks needed to be quiet dark to create a clear contrast to the yellowish sky. The big stone rocks from pre-history I partly covered in snow. The snow in this light from behind change from dark blue to purple tones, with pink spots where the light enters between the branches. The yellow colour I used again in the brightest spots where the light reflects on the snow. My aim was to recreate at mystic feeling and capture the magic of nature on my canvas. I wanted to create a mysterious mood, where the spectator starts wondering what could be hiding behind the rocks, like being in a fairy tale. Do you get that feeling? I hope so.
