Mother nature has many different ways to show her beauty. Amazingly beautiful becomes a tree when the hoarfrost lies like a white icing on top of the branches. The snow decorates the tree and gives it an elegant winter dress. In this painting a birch tree became the main motif with a rose-coloured sky in the background. The pink clouds are disappearing higher up in the sky. A few straws of dry grass are still sticking out of the snow, as the landscape is not yet embedded in a thick white blanket.
The snow is not always white.
It is fascinating how many shades snow actually can have. Depending on the light, the shadows change from pink to purple then to blue or almost black. For those who never seen snow in reality, it is easy to believe that snow is always white, but that is not the case. The colour of the sky often reflects on the snow. Sometimes it is hard to imagine that a winter landscape will turn into greenish colours a few months later. The seasons have always had a great impact on me.
