In Vilhelmina there is a nice path along Lake Volgsjön that you can hike. I highly recommend it. Every time I am in Vilhelmina I make sure to find time to take a walk that starts below Trissebacke and extends all the way to Lövliden. On my left side is the lake and on the right side is abundant greenery in the form of bushes and trees. For me, walking in nature is a way to clear my head while I almost always find motifs or objects that give me inspiration for future painting projects. In this case, I got such an inspiration boost on my way back from Lövliden last summer. I approached an uphill slope where the trail turns off to the left up on the crest, which gives the viewer the opportunity to freely imagine what is hidden around the crest. I like painting motifs that can make the viewer continue to dream further into the landscape and make their own interpretation.
Catwalk.
While I was painting this painting, our cat was up in my painting studio. She gives me good company and good energy. On my walk last summer, I didn’t see a cat along the trail, so I decided to add one before I finished the painting. It turned out to be a black and white cat on a walk, possibly wishing that a small forest mouse would come out of the bushes. It was a sunny and warm day, and the sky was wonderfully blue. Tall trees line the path, and a small glimpse of the lake can be seen to the right. I hope the painting appeals to you. It is saved under the category Lapland sommar in the gallery.
