A winter motif emerged on the canvas this time. I chose an evening before dusk, the golden tones of the sky mix with grey clouds and provide a beautiful contrast to the trees with branches covered with snow. Despite harsh climatic conditions up north the old sparse spruces\u00a0 stretch proudly towards the sky. The snow weighs heavily on the branches of the trees, but they carry the masses of snow without difficulty. The tall silhouettes are reflected in the water, which is partly frozen. Along the edges there is a thin layer of ice, while further out there is open water, probably due to the fact that it is a current in the stream and the cold has not yet turned the entire water surface into ice. The snow on the ground lies like a soft untouched blanket, a few branches and straws spread out of the snow. If you did grow up somewhere where there\u00b4s no sign of snow, you might believe that snow is always white, but this is not the case. The snow can display all imaginable colour tones depending on the light, the colour of the sky and the silhouettes of the trees that create shadows on the ground.<\/p>\n
Desolate but beautiful.<\/strong><\/p>\n There is something peaceful in the desolate landscape. Sometimes we need to see something that hasn’t changed for generations, something that remains the same despite the fact that we live in times where almost everything constantly is changing. Not bad having with a little peaceful moment watching a beautiful landscape I think, a motif to rest your eyes on after a stressful day that can make you relax. Personally, these colour tones appeal to me, yellow ochre mixed with white, grey, brown and blue has a calming effect at least on me. What do you feel?
