Name and surname: Britta Linnea Persson.
Born: 29th of August 1963 in Vilhelmina.
Nationality: Swedish.
Resident: In Valencia, Spain.
Profession: Self-employed.
I was born in 1963, the youngest of four sisters. I grew up in south Lapland, Sweden, where I lived and started working many years ago.
Along with BrittasArt, I´m running my own business. I have a textile workshop, JBP Textiles focusing on industrial technical sewing. My first firm was started up in Sweden and nowadays my company is situated in Spain.
In 2002 I moved to Valencia, Spain with my husband and our two children, at that time 9 and 12 years old. My interest in art and the joy I feel while painting I have had within me since I was little. My passion for painting has grown stronger and stronger over the years and now I cannot stop painting. Art is my source of energy and where I find strength.
The Northern landscape has a special place in my heart. The magic of nature is my main source of inspiration and to try to capture light at dawn, shades dancing on the snow are for me interesting challenges. When I manage to catch the spectator´s interest for this virgin nature I have succeeded. Few people in the south of Europe know that this environment and there so many beautiful places up north to be transformed into paintings. Apart from landscapes I have painted animals, a few portraits and also commissions from clients who for example would like to have a special place from their childhood expressed in a painting.
I use acrylic colours as they dry quickly which suits my way of painting. I have been participating in painting classes where I have learnt more about perspective, colour balance and not to forget composition, which is really important to have in mind to create harmony in the painting.
I find it inspirational to paint with other artists where you can exchange ideas and learn new techniques from one other. Mostly I paint on canvas but I have also used paper, board and stone – a different technique where a laser cuts a thin layer of stone is mounted on top of a normal canvas. The actual stone, with its structure, gives you guidelines how to integrate the background to become a part of the landscape in the painting.
Since 2014 I have been part of a group of artists called ”Por Amor Al Arte” lead by Acuda (Asociación Cultural de Arte) in Godella, Valencia. Together with them I have participated in several exhibitions.
Since 2012 I have released an annual calendar with 12 of my artworks.
